The 2026 Cervélo S5 Red XPLR AXS 1 Carnelian is a purebred aerodynamics engineered to push the limits of speed. With its one-piece cockpit inspired by the original V-stem, redesigned bayonet fork, and aggressive styling, it marks a significant step up in performance. This bike is 6.3 watts faster and 124 grams lighter than its predecessor, while maintaining its stability, balance, and handling. Joint development with Reserve optimized every aerodynamic element, including the Reserve 57|64 wheels.
Aerodynamics
The 2026 Cervélo S5 boasts a 6.3-watt gain over the previous generation. These improvements come primarily from the front of the bike, but the asymmetrical profiles of the seat tube and rear wheel also contribute to overall aerodynamic efficiency. According to Cervélo, the S5 maintains an estimated 5-watt lead over competing models.
HB19 handlebar and aero position
The Cervélo HB19 carbon one-piece handlebar adopts the “Plus-Four” concept: the width at the hoods is 4 cm narrower than at the bottom of the bar. This configuration allows riders to maintain a more aerodynamic position while ensuring control and stability. All dimensions comply with UCI regulations.
Reserve 57|64 Wheels
The Reserve 57TA front and 64TA rear wheels were designed specifically for the Cervélo S5. Their asymmetry matches that of the seat tube, ensuring smooth airflow. This wheelset offers a 3-watt gain over the Reserve 52|63 while maintaining the same weight.
Weight reduction
Despite larger aerodynamic surfaces, particularly in the fork and head tube, the S5 2026 frame is 124 grams lighter. This was achieved through optimized materials, layups, and components.
Single-unit cockpit
The one-piece cockpit contributes greatly to the bike’s aerodynamic performance.
